Released For Publication - October 06, 2023
The County of Wellington’s Economic Development Division has won an Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC) Marketing Canada Award for a series of descriptive videos promoting local Wellington County Tourism.
The videos cover nine unique ways to experience Wellington County including; local food, farm gate experiences, outdoor fun, horseback adventures, water sport destinations, and a series of winter outings. Versions of the videos with descriptive audio were also created to ensure that individuals of all ability levels could access the content.
“These videos do an excellent job of showcasing a sample of the unique and authentic experiences that are available throughout our rural communities,” said County of Wellington Warden, Andy Lennox. “Wellington County has something to offer visitors of all different backgrounds and abilities, and we are very happy to make this information more accessible.”
The tourism videos, along with other County materials like the Guelph-Wellington Local Food Map and Food Experience Guide, have been designed to promote Wellington County as a down-to-earth rural destination with a wide variety of experiences.
“The circulation of these videos has supported many of our community’s small businesses that often see a decline in visitors and sales over the winter,” says Economic Development Committee Chair, Jeff Duncan. “A very big thank you to the County’s Economic Development Team and all the participating local businesses for helping us showcase what Wellington County has to offer.”
The County of Wellington is located in south-western Ontario just over 100 kilometres west of Toronto along Highway 401.
The County is made up of seven member municipalities including the Town of Erin, Town of Minto, Township of Wellington North, Township of Mapleton, Township of Centre Wellington, Township of Guelph/Eramosa and the Township of Puslinch.
