FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Guelph, ON-- GuelphGives, a new local project coming to Guelph this December 2nd, wants to show Canada just how generous Guelph can be, and they are asking the entire city to dig deep and to get creative to help do this.
GuelphGives is the local expression of the larger GivingTuesday Canada movement which is meant to kick-off the giving season. The philosophy behind this movement is that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are good for the economy so why not have a day that is good for the community; thus Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday and GuelphGives will be celebrated on December 2 of this year.
To help get the local community involved, and because this is a brand-new initiative for Guelph, the GuelphGives team will be holding an information session on Thursday, October 16, at 4:30pm at the University of Guelph’s Lifetime Learning Centre. The information session will showcase how not-for-profits and businesses can leverage the buzz around GuelphGives to benefit their individual work and the community at large.
"GuelphGives is meant for the entire community - it doesn't benefit just one group or organization. Every single person, not-for-profit, organization, or business can be involved and can benefit from this day. That’s the beauty of GuelphGives” says co-chair of the project Lindsay Sytsma.
"No idea is too big or too small. All you have to do is think of a great way to give back to the community and then do it. It doesn’t have to be donating money, we want to celebrate all forms of giving” adds co-chair Brittney Dudar, highlighting the simplicity on getting involved. "
The team are encouraging not-for-profits and businesses to attend the info session as their support is pivotal to making this day a success.
Though a brand-new project, GuelphGives has an ambitious goal. "Our tagline for the day is 1 City. 1 Day. $1 Million.”
GuelphGives will be coming to this city on December 2nd and it will be an all-day city-wide event.
