Guelph Family Martial Arts has been named as the #1 activity by Canadian Kids Guide in the area and one of the top fifteen in Ontario of all activities.
The studio is owned and operated by lifetime Guelph resident Nathan Skoufis. Skoufis is a fifth degree black belt, 23 x world champion and member of Team Canada.
The martial arts are a rare life changing activity with emphasis on personal growth and development in a non-judgmental environment. Skoufis values what martial arts did for him as a man and wanted to share that with individuals throughout the area.
Skoufis is an active motivational speaker and is involved in several charity events.
Martial arts have been stereotyped as a sport that focuses on combat which can intimidate many, however it is so much more developing life skills like focus, courtesy, self-control, indomitable spirit, discipline, confidence and many more. Martial arts are often only seen as an activity that is combat focused. This stereotype for martial arts is likely from the martial arts movies from decades ago.
Nathan Skoufis is a 20 under 40 and a 40 under 40 Recipient for his contributions in the community. As well as being named Youth Ambassador and Young Inspirational Leader for the City. Skoufis was also named young innovator by the Chamber of Commerce and University of Guelph for his work. Skoufis has won world titles in NASKA, NBL, IFMA and NAFMA.

I believe that any organized activity has huge benefits for children of all ages. I know what organized activity did for me as a child and the life lessons I was taught still are with me today. To see martial arts being considered alongside mainstream sports is really emotional for me and very surreal to see where it has come in the last decade.
