Guelph Nighthawks Sign Former Santa Cruz Warriors Guard, Isaiah Reese

For Immediate Release - March 22, 2021

Isaiah Reese joins the Guelph Nighthawks after two seasons of playing in the NBA G-League with the Santa Cruz Warriors.

A 6’5 guard with three years of NCAA basketball on his resume, his extensive experience and scoring ability will be a perfect addition to a growing new roster for the Nighthawks this season.

During his freshman year at Canisius, Reese played in all 34 games that season, and scored a season high 22 points just two weeks after his first start. He was second on the entire team in terms of assists per game during his rookie season with the team, averaging just under three assists per game. He additionally led the team with 46 steals, the most for a freshman since the 2006-2007 season. In his sophomore year, he started all 33 games and led the team in minutes, rebounding, steals, assists as well as three-point field goals made. He scored the first ever triple double in Canisius program history, and became the first Canisius sophomore since the 1993-94 season to earn All-MAAC First Team Honours. In his final season with Canisius, he began the season as the MAAC preseason player of the year, and finished his career there as eighth all time in steals.

After leaving Canisius, Reese signed on for the NBA draft. Despite going undrafted, he signed a contract with the Santa Cruz Warriors, the G league affiliate of the Golden State Warriors of the NBA, where he had playing time with former Toronto Raptor, NBA champion, Jeremy Lin. In March of 2021, Reese produced 29 points and 11 assists to help push the Santa Cruz Warriors into the G League playoffs.

The Nighthawks start their CEBL 2021 season on June 8. All games are available on and the CBC Gem App via Android or iOS devices.

The CEBL led the NHL, NBA and later the CPL in returning to play in Canada after the coronavirus shut down the sports world in March of 2020. The CEBL Summer Series put professional basketball on the television and digital screens of millions of viewers across Canada and around the world, establishing the league as the top Canadian-based global team sports brand. The 2021 season set to start on June 5, will build on that momentum with an expanded viewing audience around the world, and locally through an innovative approach to addressing the uncertainties due to the pandemic around having fans in arenas across the league.
