FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 19, 2021
On Friday, as Ontario entered Step 3 of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen, the Wellington County Library expanded capacity limits for in-person services. The Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) will re-open to the public on Friday, July 23.
Library patrons are welcome to drop-in to use study spaces and browse the physical collection. Branch capacity will be limited to permit physical distancing of two metres at all times. All library branches will continue curbside pick-up service. Patrons are asked to contact their local branch to make appointments for computer and printer access.
“With expanded capacity limits, we are able to welcome more patrons back to our libraries,”
said Rebecca Hine, Chief Librarian.
“Our curbside pick-up service has been very successful and will continue throughout the summer for patrons who prefer to use the service.”
On July 23, the Museum will resume its regular operating hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday, and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on weekends. The public can call 519.846.0916 to make an appointment to visit the Archives or drop off donations.
The WCMA is hosting outdoor summer programmes and events throughout July and August. A Summer Concert Series will be held every Thursday evening at 7:00 pm until August 12. Canada at War Day is on July 24, exploring Canada’s military history with live re-enactments of major military events. Families and children are invited to attend the Mad Science Show on July 21, and the Wild Ontario Show on July 28. In addition to outdoor events, a new exhibit titled Animal Gibberish opens July Friday 23. This fun and interactive exhibit uses digital technology and games to learn how animals communicate with one another.
“We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces back on our grounds and inside our buildings,”
said Jana Burns, Wellington Place Administrator.
“We have fantastic summer programmes and events lined up for residents and visitors of Wellington County to enjoy.”
*All visitors must complete an active screening form upon entry and adhere to all public health measures while inside County buildings. *
