Living Better On Less Program Returns
The program runs on a bi-weekly basis from Nov 2nd to Feb 22nd. Interested participants can pre-register online

Released For Publication - Thursday, October 28th

Guelph Tool Library partners with Church of the Apostles to bring back the Living Better On Less program in new format.

The program runs on a bi-weekly basis from November 2nd to February 22nd. Interested participants can pre-register online.

The program was developed at the Church of the Apostles in 2009 as a way to provide guidance to those living within a fixed income and wanting to reduce their environmental footprint.

The church paused the program in 2020 due to COVID-19 and is currently unable to accommodate the program because of internal restrictions on gathering. The Guelph Tool Library was able to offer up their space and the skills of their program facilitator, Steph Clarke, to run the free program on a a-la-carte basis.

Clarke says of the return of the program, “We’re so thrilled to be bringing back the program with updated resources, new information, and a fresh format that caters to the needs of people in our community. We’re excited to be creating a series of workshops that can be taken in person this fall and online over the winter”.

The program aims to help people find resources and solutions for living on a budget, access to free or low-cost food, and creating a personal care routine that is affordable and easy on the environment, creative holiday planning, and practical skills like food preservation and clothing repair.

Each workshop consists of an info session, discussion, and hands-on activity. Participants are encouraged to sign up in advance, as class sizes are limited. As per provincial and local guidelines, proof of vaccination is required for the in-person programs, and masks are to be properly worn at all times. Vaccination status can be presented via the Verify Ontario App, a PDF printout, or displayed on your phone.

To maximize social distancing, each workshop is limited to 8 participants.
