Clock Talks with Allan Symons from the Canadian Clock Museum

Ever wonder about early Canadian clocks? 

On April 6, the Wellington County  Museum and Archives (WCMA) will be hosting a Zoom tour and presentation with special guest  Allan Symons, Curator of the Canadian Clock Museum. Symons will showcase the stories behind  some early Canadian clock companies from the late 1800s to the late 1900s.  

“This presentation is sure to be a real treat for many clock collecting enthusiasts,” says Amy  Dunlop, curator of the Wellington County Collects series. “As part of the virtual programming  for our newest Wellington County Collects exhibit, For Old Time Sake, this presentation will  showcase some of the rarest Canadian clock stories.” 

The WCMA invites participants to join the virtual presentation on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:00  pm.

The Canadian Clock Museum opened to the public in May 2000 and is located in Deep River,  Ontario. The museum’s collection totals more than three thousand items from mantel clocks to  grandfather clocks, some of which date as early as the 1820s.

 “It is Canada’s only clock  museum, and the only one in the world telling the Canadian horology story,”says Allan Symons,  Curator and Founder of the Canadian Clock Museum. 


The County of Wellington is located in south-western Ontario just over 100 kilometres west of Toronto along Highway 401.

The County is made up of seven member municipalities including the Town of Erin, Town of Minto, Township of Wellington North, Township of Mapleton, Township of Centre Wellington, Township of Guelph/Eramosa and the Township of Puslinch.
