Think Outside The Bin Is Expanding

Now accepting reusable take-out containers

For Immediate Release - Tuesday, June 17th, 2025

The Guelph Tool Library (GTL) is now accepting reusable take-out containers for Rachel’s Saturday Table (RST) as part of their Think Outside The Bin recycling program.

The organization is limiting accepted items to plastic square and round takeout containers between 8”-9” across.

Donations can be dropped off at the Guelph Tool Library (Old Quebec Street Shoppes - 55 Wyndham Street North Unit 114) during operating hours. The GTL asks the containers are clean, and dry with no stains or cracks, and come with their matching lid attached.

Rachel’s Saturday Table runs every Saturday from 1:20-2:45 pm, handing out free meals at the corner of Wyndham and Woolwich Streets, rain or shine! Rachel Wilson, the founder of RST said that she “Provides 80-100 meals every week to anyone that drops by on Saturday and food containers are one of their biggest expenses.  Having access to donated containers will help make the meal planning and delivery more affordable.”

Supporting our Guelph Community
The GTL and RST have worked together on a number of projects that bring the GTL’s ability to find a home for excess or unwanted items and RST’s ability to deliver those items to those that need them the most.

John Dennis, Transitional Director Guelph Tool Library added that “We are big fans of Rachel’s Saturday Table and are happy to support their work by facilitating a recycled food container program. This is a natural expansion of our Think Outside the Bin Program.”

The Guelph Tool Library aims to continue collecting the containers as long as they are needed. Further information about the Think Outside the Bin program can be found on the GTL website.
