For Immediate Release - June 20th, 2025
This Canada Day, St. George’s Anglican Church invites you to pause and listen as the city rings in the nation’s birthday with a beautiful 30 minute carillon performance.
At 12:00 PM on Monday, July 1st, the bells of St. George’s will fill Downtown Guelph with music in celebration of Canada’s 158th birthday. The Basilica of Our Lady will play in unison for the first few minutes.
The carillon, a rare and majestic instrument made up of dozens of tower bells, will be hand played by Don Hamilton, a carillonneur at St George's since 1987, offering a unique and memorable soundscape that can be enjoyed from the surrounding streets and patios. Historic Douglas Street is the best place to listen to these incredible sounds.
