Guelph Musicfest 2017
Guelph Musicfest begins its 11th season in the Recital Hall of the Guelph Youth Music Centre with the Cecilia String Quartet on Friday May 26

I am so excited to welcome back the amazing Cecilia String Quartet, a Musicfest favourite since it won the prestigious Banff International Quartet competition. Of course, the popular Festival Trio returns, this time with guest violinist Mark Fewer (former concertmaster of the Vancouver Symphony and now an artist/teacher at McGill’s faculty of music) joining cellist Paul Pulford & me (at the piano) in an ALL-BEETHOVEN program.

There is a double treat for piano music lovers—the great and insightful Vancouver pianist Robert Silverman returns with a blockbuster program of Beethoven Sonatas plus ALL FOUR CHOPIN SCHERZOS! And the internationally-renowned Anagnoson & Kinton piano duo makes its first Musicfest appearance with a truly dazzling program.

This is the beginning of Musicfest’s 2nd DECADE of stellar music in the GYMC’s wonderful Recital Hall where perfect acoustics and up close seating make live music shine.

Thank you to all the great reporters and editors who helped Musicfest get off the ground 11 years ago, and have helped sustain it.
