On Saturday, May 5, So Long Seven will return to the intimate environment of Silence for their CD/vinyl release.
No strangers to Guelph, two years ago they performed on Guelph Jazz Festival's main outdoor stage as well as at Hillside Festival. The band's banjo player Tim Posgate with Andrew Downing (cello) were a featured act in last year's first Guelph Banjo Fest.
A So Long Seven
concert takes the audience on a journey where every piece of music
turns a corner to what feels like a new day in a new country, bringing
new emotions. They will have CD and vinyl copies available of their new second record Kala Kalo.
Ravi Naimpally: tabla
Tim Posgate: banjo
Neil Hendry: guitar
William Lamoureux: violin
“What could be more Canadian than the multicultural mashup music of the Toronto quartet called So Long Seven? The band consists of expert players on banjo, tabla, violin and guitar fusing the inspirations of India, West Africa, Spain and Brazil to make dynamic and intriguing original music that draws on folk, chamber music and jazz...” (PETER HUM, OTTAWA CITIZEN)
“…my bet is that you will feel a warm welcome in the imaginative musical world presented on this disc.”
(Andrew Timar, The Wholenote)
