Nathan Skoufis, 24 has been invited to qualifications by both Team Canada as well as Team Greece (given his family background). Skoufis has decided to enter the qualifications for Team Canada, set to begin this weekend.
Skoufis, is a highly sought-after member given his accomplishments and experience. Qualification will begin with the Provincial Championships this weekend in Burlington and the National Championships in late May held in Ottawa and Quebec City with the World Championships set for Niagara Falls, NY in early November and another championship in Turkey later this year. As his sport of kickboxing/karate has been accepted as an Olympic Sport and received provisional status.
Nathan Skoufis said about his upcoming qualification “I am very excited for this opportunity to represent this amazing country on the global stage.
I am humbled to have been invited by the Greece National Team, after a long time considering both teams I decided I will be competing for Canada in the upcoming world championships.
My family has connections to Greece so it was something I considered. I am proud and honoured to be in the position to represent Canada. Thank you everyone for your ongoing support and I look forward to this upcoming journey. "
