Opening Night Roster Named

The Guelph Nighthawks professional basketball club officially named their opening night roster for the 2019 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season

For Immediate Release - May 8, 2019

The Guelph Nighthawks professional basketball club officially named their opening night roster for the 2019 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season.  The ten player Active Roster will travel to Abbotsford, BC for the club’s inaugural game against the Fraser Valley Bandits on Thursday, May 9th.

Leading the club onto the court will be former Raptors 905 and University of Texas Point Guard, Myck Kabongo.  The Nighthawks will have a blend of youth, experience, speed and length on the court.  Twenty-year old Montrell Dixson from Chicago, Illinois will add a young charge to a veteran laden club that features former Canada Basketball national team players Olu Famutimi and Jamal Reynolds, along with former NBA G-League standout Zeke Marshall.  The opening night roster is capped off with hometown USport Developmental Player Malcolm Glanville from the University of Guelph.

“We expect the Nighthawks to have one of the top offences in the league,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tarry Upshaw.  “We are a team that will really push the ball in transition and bring a high-speed, positive energy on to the court that we expect will permeate into the crowd here in Guelph.”

 The Guelph Nighthawks inaugural roster is comprised of a ten player Active Roster that will travel to the opening game in Fraser Valley on May 9th.  Supplementing the Active Roster is a four player Practice Roster and Inactive List with players that are finishing up their professional seasons abroad:


The Guelph Nighthawks complete their 2019 training camp on May 7that the University of Guelph, before heading to Abbotsford, BC for the club’s inaugural CEBL game against the Fraser Valley Bandits on May 9th. The Nighthawks host their home opener on Saturday, May 11that the Sleeman Centre against the Saskatchewan Rattlers.
