After winning their first ever game on Thursday night against the Fraser Valley Bandits, the Nighthawks returned to Guelph for the first home game in the history of the franchise. Despite the support of their fans, the Nighthawks stumbled out of the gates in the first quarter and were unable to keep up with the Saskatchewan Rattlers.
Myck Kabongo scored the first points at home for Guelph and finished the game with 28 points and 10 assists. While he was able to score regularly, the Nighthawks could not match the pace that the Rattlers were playing with.
Negus Webster-Chan led the charge for the Rattlers, finishing the game with 28 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
The Nighthawks continued to battle defensively through the entire fourth quarter, giving their home fans a reason to cheer as they tried to cut into Saskatchewan’s lead.
In the end, the Rattlers left the Sleeman Centre with a 130-110 win. With the loss, the Nighthawks now have a 1-1 record this season.
Fans will get another chance to check out the Nighthawks when they play the Fraser Valley Bandits on Saturday, May 18 at 7pm.
