PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKET GUELPH RETURNS WITH SPECIAL HALLOWEEN MARKET
On Saturday, October 26th, take a break from Downtown Trick Or Treating, but keep the spooky vibes
alive (or un-dead!) at the Punk Rock Flea Market.
The Punk Rock Flea Market is a movement that has been popping up in bars and other social hubs over the last few years. Many Southern Ontario towns host their own, including Hamilton, London and recently Kitchener-Waterloo as well as Toronto.
Nick Clark, has been organizing the event since July of 2017. As an enthusiast and promoter of local punk music, the flea market was a natural extension of his interests. Typically, the market runs quarterly with markets on Sunday afternoons in March, July, October, and December. In order to coincide with the Downtown Trick Or Treat on Saturday, October 26th, a new date for this months affair was in order.
PRFM Guelph supports local artists, record labels, and resellers of unique vintage goods, such as clothing and jewelry. The Flea market has over a dozen confirmed vendors, including Steph Sew Sublime, and Pressed By Nick, who are two of the organizers of the event. Other vendors include artists and makers Vanderbander, Unidentified Witchcraft, and Designs By Erika. The event is also supporting community organizations The Guelph Tool Library, Living Better On Less, and Punk For Paws, which supports the OVC Pet Trust.
This special-edition Punk Rock Flea Market will have a DIY trick-or treat bag making station using upcycled materials, led by a mentee of the Living Better On Less program. Participation in this activity is by donation, and no pre-registration is required. The Living Better On Less program is a free workshop series where participants can learn how to save money while being mindful of the earth’s resources.
Costumes are highly encouraged! Though the spot is not an official Downtown Trick or Treat location, participants are encouraged to stop in to the Jimmy Jazz to check out the market and the great vendors and organizations.
Doors open to the public at 2 pm, and the market will run until 6 pm.
The event is all-ages and admission is free, but donations are accepted. Any money collected will support the Living Better on Less program, and food donations will go to a local food cupboard. Drinks and food are available for purchase from the bar.
