The event will raise funds for the Guelph General Hospital and Children’s
Foundation.
The event is organized by Nathan and Sophie Skoufis. The event aims to make a difference in the community and surrounding area. The Children Foundation aim is to get the youth in our area involved in organized activities. Nathan and Sophie Skoufis are lifetime residents of the area, members of Team Canada and multiple time world champions. They are extremely active in a variety of charity events throughout the area and love having a positive impact.
Nathan Skoufis said of the event
“The aim of our Christmas Gala is to raise funds for our community, I know what organized activity and sports did for me as a child and I believe everyone should have that opportunity regardless of any other factors.
Organized activities and sports have powerful benefits and helping to develop life skills. These life skills including helping to develop focus, perseverance, courtesy, respect, self-control, making new friends and developing self-confidence. That is a big reason that we selected the Children’s Foundation, we have been involved with this organization for years and have seen the amazing results they have on the community with their hard work. Our Gala will also aim to raise funds for the Guelph General Hospital especially given how rapid Guelph and surrounding area continues to grow and the increased demand on the urgent care and mental health units.
We really love this community and together we can make a difference. We should all aim to make this world a better place than when we got here and collectively we can do that.”
