For Immediate Release - November 22nd, 2019
Beginning Friday, November 22nd, the Guelph Tool Library launches their new holiday ad campaign with a focus on embracing the sharing economy, living with less, and paying it forward in celebration of the season.
Follow along on social media for daily prompts discussing ways to share and save over the holidays. The online event is designed to promote the initiatives and partnerships that the Guelph Tool Library is a part of, as well as to highlight the “Give One, Get One” Holiday membership sale.
From now until the end of the year, new and current members have the option of paying $75 to purchase or renew their membership, while also funding a membership for someone in the community who may be experiencing financial barriers. So far, the “Give One, Get One” campaign has partnered with 4 local organizations with the hopes of distributing a total of 40 memberships to people in need by the end of the year.
Lakeside Hope House, Chalmers Community Service Centre, Guelph Wellington Immigrant Services, and the Living Better on Less program are each hoping to receive 10 memberships to distribute to clients, though their goal with the initiative is to sell 50 of the pay-it-forward memberships.
Program coordinator Stephanie Clarke says of the campaign, “It’s a great way to support the tool library while fostering a sense of community around the holidays. You can purchase a “Give One, Get One” membership or renewal for yourself, or you can gift your membership to someone else on your shopping list. At this time of year, we get so saturated with holiday marketing campaigns that sell us things we don’t need. A tool library membership is over 800 gifts in one. On top of that, when you’re paying it forward, you know that someone else in the community is able to benefit from the tools we have available”.
If you would like to contribute
to the campaign, “Give One, Get One” memberships can be purchased online at www.guelphtoollibrary.org/donate
. Other donation options are available, including monetary donations in $10 increments, and pending memberships, which are held for use year-round when people experiencing financial barriers would like to join the Guelph Tool Library. Memberships and donations can also be processed in person at the tool library at 131 Ontario Street during their regular hours.
The campaign launches on Friday, November 22nd, and the 25 Days of Sharing will run until December 16th with daily celebrations on
