Nominate an Everyday Hero

Nominations are now open for the 2019 UGDSB Everyday Hero Awards

For Immediate Release - March 4, 2019

GUELPH, Ontario – Our school communities wouldn’t be what they are without exceptional staff, students, volunteers and community members. Now’s your chance to recognize that person who goes the extra mile to make the Upper Grand an amazing place to work and learn.

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Everyday Hero Awards.

Tireless school volunteers, dedicated teachers, school and board staff, bus drivers who dedicate their time for our kids, crossing guards who save lives – anyone who goes above and beyond is being sought by the board to honour as an Everyday Hero.

Eligible candidates can be an employee, volunteer, individual, or community group active in schools – anyone who has a relationship with the system across Dufferin and Wellington Counties and the City of Guelph. Criteria for the award includes the performance of duties at a high level at all times, a significant school or system-related achievement, a specific innovation or achievement of significant value or importance to the system, or a unique circumstance considered worthy of recognition by the board.

Past recipients include a student who became a champion for youth mental health, a class who raised funds for a new wheelchair for their classmate, and staff and community members who quite literally saved lives in our communities.

Nominations are open until Friday April 12, 2019. The awards ceremony is set for Wed. May 29 at the E.L. Fox Auditorium (John F. Ross CVI), 21 Meyer Drive, Guelph beginning at 7:00 p.m. A reception will follow the awards.
