The World Association of Kickboxing Organization event drew top competitors throughout the province. Bringing 10x Provincial Titles and 14 Top Three Finishes back to Guelph.
The GFMA Team had:
• TEN 1st Place Finishes
• FOUR 3rd Place Finishes
The team is coached by Master Nathan Skoufis and Master Sophie Skoufis, the area’s most well-known instructors and multiple time world champions and owners of Guelph Family Martial Arts and Guelph Fitness Kickboxing.
Head Instructor and Team Coach Nathan Skoufis said “It was a really special event as we had many competitors that this was there first ever provincial tournament but they all did such a great job. They all trained hard for this event, they have all now qualified for the WAKO National Championships that will be happening next year. Competing is a great outlet as it provides goal setting and helps develop life skills including self confidence and perseverance among many others.”
Master Nathan Skoufis is a 16x World Champion, 5th degree black belt, Member of Team Canada and has worked with UFC Fighters and Olympians.
Master Sophie Skoufis is a Multiple Time World Champion, 5th Degree Black Belt, Member of Team Canada and experienced Sparring Coach and mentor.

Kadin Tran - Gold Kata and Gold Sparring
Xavier Pittman - Gold Sparring and Bronze Kata
Allan Scott - Gold Sparring
Cole Cardo Lindsay - Gold Kata and Bronze Sparring
Rob Pisciuneri - Gold Sparring
Feng Lee - Bronze weapons, and Bronze kata and Gold sparring
Erin Grant - Gold Kata, Gold Weapons and Gold Sparring
With this victory the competitors will now be seeded for the WAKO 2020 National Championships in Niagara Falls. The team will next be in action at the WAKO Regional Martial Arts Championships. WAKO is recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
