WOMEN ENTREPRENEUR IN GUELPH RECEIVES $100,000 IN GOVERNMENT SUPPORT TO GROW HER BUSINESS AND ENTER MARKETS ABROAD

MP Lloyd Longfield is pleased to announce an up to $100,000 investment in Guelph-based businesses through the Government of Canada’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, a $2-billion investment that seeks to double the number of women-owned businesses by 2025.

SpeakFeel Corporation, led by Kelly Lee Brooks, is receiving funding through the program, the first of its kind dedicated to advancing women’s economic empowerment.
Wyndham Forensics, led by Valerie Blackmore is also receiving funding to continue their work in leading edge processing to solving challenging legal puzzles through their team of forensic biologists, computer experts and technicians.

MP Lloyd Longfield says, “the women entrepreneurs and business leaders of Guelph make incredible contributions to our economy and community every day. I’m proud to be a part of a Liberal government that takes women’s economic empowerment seriously. From tackling pay equity to modernizing parental leave, this government is taking action on gender equality because when women succeed, we all succeed.”

SpeakFeel Corporation, a software development company, will use the non-repayable funds to grow their businesses and facilitate opportunities in markets abroad.

Kelly Brooks, SpeakFeel’s president and founder, says “we are honoured to accept funding that recognizes the valuable contributions women entrepreneurs continue to make in the Canadian economy. The funding will help complete our Quarter4 Artificial Intelligence platform that engages sports enthusiasts to predict team and player performance outcomes through data.”

The Women Entrepreneurship Strategy compliments the Government of Canada’s efforts to advance gender equality, which includes addressing pay equity, providing more affordable childcare and putting an end to gender-based violence. The strategy provides funding for women entrepreneurs, recognizing that the full and equal participation of women in the economy is essential to Canada's competitiveness.
